Pier 6

With a major entrance fronting Atlantic Avenue, Pier 6 features a 1.6-acre destination playground with water play, Pier 6 Playground_Frossardswings, slides and other innovative play equipment beautifully integrated with the park landscape.

A newly opened 1.8-acre section of the pier features three regulation-sized sand volleyball courts, an outdoor food court, and a renovated building that contains restrooms and has been clad with the park’s salvaged Long Leaf Yellow Pine. One of Pier 6's concessionaires, Bark Hot Dogs, will be on this building's rooftop serving hot dogs, hamburgers, and local beer and wine throughout summer, Friday-Sunday. Look for our other delicious concessionaires on the pier below: Blue Marble ice cream, Uncle Louie G's italian ices, Porto's Middle Eastern snacks, and Milk Truck, serving grilled cheese sandwiches and milkshakes. All concessionaires are open on weekends only.Water Lab_Frossard

The Water Lab is open for summer! The Water Lab will remain open throughout the season on days that the temperature is over 80 degrees.

A dog run is located on the uplands near the Atlantic Avenue park entrance, and a pedestrian promenade leads from the playground onto the Pier and provides views of lower Manhattan and the New York Harbor. A ferry dock is also located on the southern edge of Pier 6 providing ferry service to Governors Island and other destinations in the harbor.

In the future, the pier will also feature two 15,000 square-foot lawns and be planted with a diverse array of native plants and trees, most notably Sassafras, Bald Cypress and Chestnut Oak trees as well as Sweetfern, Sumac and Serviceberry shrubs.
